A Clinical Study of the Children's Ankle Fracture


Abstract
The injuries of ankle in children occur mostly at the structure rather than ligamentous one, and some injuries of the growth plate may results in the arrest of entire growth and these may result in leg length discrepancy or deformity. Accurate
treatment
under the knowledge of injury mechanism is very important. We have reviewed 16 cases of children's ankle fracture treated at our clinic from Jan. 1986 to Dec. 1990.
@ES the results are as follows:
@EN 1. Traffic accident was the most common cause of injury.
2. According to Dias & tachdjian classification, pronation-eversion-External rotation type was the most common(8 cases).
3. The epiphyseal plate injury was more common Salter-Harris type II.
4. The treatments performed were closed reduction & internal fixation(13 cases), closed reduction & percutaneous pinning(2 cases), and closed reduction & castimmobilization(1 cases).
5. For the prevention of the complication, accurate reduction and adequate fixation was desired.
